Atmospheric pressure chemical ionization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000883
A soft ionization technique used in mass spectrometry where analytes are ionized at atmospheric pressure through gas-phase ion-molecule reactions. A corona discharge or heated nebulizer typically generates primary ions from a solvent, which then react with the analyte molecules. This method is suitable for relatively non-polar and thermally stable compounds.
