Atmospheric pressure photoionization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012899
An ionization technique used in mass spectrometry where analytes are ionized by photons at atmospheric pressure. Ultraviolet light sources, such as a krypton discharge lamp, typically generate the photons. This method is suitable for nonpolar and moderately polar compounds that are difficult to ionize by electrospray.
