Spray ionization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011247

A soft ionization technique used in mass spectrometry where a solution containing the analyte is nebulized into a fine spray, often by electrospray or atmospheric pressure chemical ionization. The droplets evaporate, concentrating the analyte and facilitating ion formation in the gas phase. This method is suitable for analyzing polar, non-volatile, and thermally labile compounds.
