Sonic spray ionization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011051
A soft ionization technique used in mass spectrometry where a liquid sample is nebulized into a fine aerosol by a high-velocity gas stream, often air or nitrogen, at ambient pressure. The solvent evaporates rapidly from the droplets, leading to the formation of gas-phase ions. This method is particularly effective for analyzing thermally labile and non-volatile compounds.
