Electrohydrodynamic ionization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003686

A soft ionization technique used in mass spectrometry where a liquid sample is subjected to a strong electric field, causing the formation of a fine spray of charged droplets. These droplets desolvate to produce gas-phase ions of the analyte. It is particularly effective for analyzing non-volatile and thermally labile compounds.
