Electron ionization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003727

A method used in mass spectrometry to produce gas-phase ions by bombarding gaseous atoms or molecules with a beam of high-energy electrons. The collision removes an electron from the neutral species, creating a positive ion. This technique is widely used for analyzing volatile and thermally stable compounds.
