Atmospheric pressure ionization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000884

A soft ionization technique used in mass spectrometry where ions are generated at atmospheric pressure before being introduced into the vacuum system of the mass spectrometer. This method is particularly suitable for analyzing thermally labile and non-volatile compounds. Common variants include electrospray ionization and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization.
