Desorption chemical ionization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003068

A mass spectrometry ionization technique where the sample is introduced directly into the chemical ionization source on a probe, often heated, allowing for rapid vaporization and subsequent ionization by a reagent gas plasma. This method is suitable for analyzing thermally labile or non-volatile compounds. The ionization occurs in the gas phase through ion-molecule reactions.
