Direct exposure probe
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003255
A modification of the direct insertion probe in which an involatile sample on the probe tip, often a heated wire loop, is placed directly in the electron beam of an electron ionization source or in the plasma of a chemical ionization source. Rapid heating desorbs the sample into the ionizing region, and this arrangement is the basis of desorption chemical ionization.
