Desorption ionization on silicon
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003071
A soft ionization technique in mass spectrometry that uses a porous silicon surface to facilitate the desorption and ionization of analytes. The sample is deposited onto the silicon, and a laser pulse or electric field then desorbs and ionizes the molecules. This method is particularly effective for analyzing small molecules and peptides directly from surfaces.
