Matrix effect

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007028

The influence of components other than the analyte in a sample on the analytical signal of the analyte. This effect can lead to either an increase (enhancement) or a decrease (suppression) in the measured signal, causing inaccuracies in quantitative analysis. Proper calibration strategies, such as matrix-matched calibration or standard addition, are often employed to compensate for these effects.
