Internal standard
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005972
A substance added to all samples, blanks, and calibration standards in a known, constant amount for quantitative analysis. This compound is chemically similar to the analyte but distinguishable from it, allowing for correction of matrix effects and variations in instrument response. The ratio of the analyte signal to the internal standard signal is used for quantification.
