Measurement procedure with standard addition

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007100

An analytical technique where the sample is analyzed before and after adding known amounts of the analyte, called standards. A calibration curve is constructed by plotting the instrument response against the concentration of the added standard, allowing the initial concentration in the unknown sample to be determined by extrapolation. This method is distinct from external calibration, where standards are prepared in a separate matrix-free solvent.
