Surrogate internal standard
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011688
A compound added to a sample before analysis that is chemically similar to the analyte but not naturally present in the sample. It is used to monitor the efficiency of sample preparation steps, such as extraction and cleanup, and to correct for analyte loss during these processes. The surrogate internal standard is typically isotopically labeled or a closely related analog.
