Surrogate toxicant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013623
A chemical substance used in toxicological studies or risk assessments as a representative for a group of related toxicants, especially when data for the specific toxicant of concern are limited. The surrogate's toxicity profile is assumed to be similar enough to extrapolate potential effects. This approach is often employed for complex mixtures or emerging contaminants.
