Threshold of toxicological concern

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012031

A concept used in toxicology to establish a low level of exposure to a chemical below which there is a negligible probability of adverse health effects. This approach is applied to substances for which substance-specific toxicity data are limited or absent. It involves assigning a default exposure limit based on structural alerts and general toxicity data for similar compounds.
