Surrogate light chain
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011689
A protein complex in developing B lymphocytes that substitutes for a conventional immunoglobulin light chain. It pairs with the immunoglobulin heavy chain to form the pre-B cell receptor on the surface of pre-B cells. This complex consists of two non-covalently linked proteins, VpreB and λ5, and its successful assembly signals the cell to proceed with maturation.
