Immunoglobulin gene superfamily

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005680

A large group of proteins characterized by the presence of one or more immunoglobulin domains, which are protein modules with a characteristic beta-sandwich fold. These proteins are involved in cell-cell recognition, adhesion, and signaling within the immune system and nervous system. Examples include antibodies, T-cell receptors, and major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules.
