Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001769
A transmembrane glycoprotein that functions as a co-receptor on the surface of cytotoxic T lymphocytes. It binds to the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecule on antigen-presenting cells, stabilizing the interaction with the T-cell receptor. This binding event is a necessary step for the activation of the cytotoxic T cell to eliminate infected or malignant cells.
