α:β T cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000032
A type of T lymphocyte characterized by a T-cell receptor composed of an alpha (α) and a beta (β) glycoprotein chain. These cells are the most common type of T cell in the peripheral blood and secondary lymphoid organs. They recognize peptide antigens presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules on antigen-presenting cells.
