γ:δ T cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004787
A subset of T lymphocytes that possess a distinct T-cell receptor composed of one gamma (γ) chain and one delta (δ) chain. Unlike the more common α:β T cells, they recognize antigens in a manner that does not require presentation by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. These cells are abundant in mucosal tissues, such as the gut and skin, where they contribute to immune surveillance.
