α:β T-cell receptor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000033
A heterodimeric protein complex found on the surface of most T lymphocytes, consisting of one alpha (α) and one beta (β) polypeptide chain. This receptor is responsible for recognizing specific peptide antigens bound to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. The variable regions of the α and β chains form the antigen-binding site.
