Framework region

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004643

Relatively conserved segments of amino acids within the variable regions of antibody and T-cell receptor chains, which provide the structural scaffold for the hypervariable complementarity-determining regions (CDRs). These regions maintain the overall three-dimensional structure of the antigen-binding site. There are typically four framework regions (FR1-FR4) in each variable domain.
