γ:δ T-cell receptor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004788

A heterodimeric protein complex found on the surface of γ:δ T cells, consisting of one gamma (γ) and one delta (δ) polypeptide chain. This receptor is involved in recognizing a broad spectrum of antigens, including phospholipids, alkyl amines, and heat shock proteins, often in a major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-independent manner. The structure and antigen recognition mechanisms differ significantly from the α:β T-cell receptor.
