Antigen-presenting groove

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000687

A specific binding cleft located on the surface of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules, which accommodates and displays peptide fragments of antigens. This groove is formed by the alpha helices and beta sheets of the MHC molecule. T-cell receptors recognize the combination of the peptide and the MHC molecule within this groove.
