Professional antigen-presenting cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013434
A specialized immune cell that processes and presents antigens to naive T lymphocytes, initiating an adaptive immune response. These cells express both Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) class II molecules and the co-stimulatory signals necessary for full T cell activation. The main types of professional antigen-presenting cells are dendritic cells, macrophages, and B lymphocytes.
