B lymphocyte

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001060

A type of white blood cell, or lymphocyte, that originates and matures in the bone marrow and is a key component of the adaptive immune system. Upon activation by an antigen, B lymphocytes differentiate into plasma cells that produce antibodies, or into memory B cells. These cells express B-cell receptors on their surface.
