B-1/B-2 cells

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001061

Two distinct subsets of B lymphocytes, differing in their developmental origin, location, and functional characteristics. B-1 cells are found primarily in the peritoneal and pleural cavities and produce natural antibodies, while B-2 cells are the conventional B cells found in lymphoid organs and are responsible for T-cell dependent antibody responses. B-2 cells express CD23, whereas B-1 cells do not.
