Periarteriolar lymphoid sheath
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008635
A cylindrical mass of lymphoid tissue that surrounds the central arteries within the white pulp of the spleen. This structure is primarily composed of T lymphocytes, along with macrophages and dendritic cells, which are involved in initiating immune responses to blood-borne antigens. The periarteriolar lymphoid sheath is a T-cell dependent area, analogous to the paracortex of lymph nodes.
