Paracortical area

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008433

The region within a lymph node located between the outer cortex, which contains B-cell follicles, and the inner medulla. This area is predominantly populated by T lymphocytes and antigen-presenting dendritic cells, which interact to initiate adaptive immune responses. The paracortex is also known as the T-cell zone and its size changes in response to antigenic stimulation, expanding during T-cell mediated immune reactions.
