Lymphocyte activation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006830
The process by which quiescent lymphocytes are stimulated to proliferate, differentiate, and acquire effector functions in response to specific antigenic signals or other stimuli. This involves a cascade of intracellular signaling events that lead to changes in gene expression and cell behavior. Activated lymphocytes then mount an immune response, such as producing antibodies or killing infected cells.
