Intercellular adhesion molecule
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013201
A type of cell surface glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily, involved in cell-to-cell binding and communication. These molecules mediate the adhesion of leukocytes to endothelial cells and other cell types, facilitating immune responses and inflammation. ICAM-1 is a well-known example that binds to LFA-1 on T lymphocytes.
