Supramolecular adhesion complex
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013619
An organized cluster of proteins and lipids at the interface between two cells that mediates cell-to-cell adhesion and signal transduction. These structures are dynamic and involve the specific arrangement of receptors, adhesion molecules, and signaling components. The immunological synapse, formed between a T lymphocyte and an antigen-presenting cell, is a well-studied example of such a complex.
