Adhesion factor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012844

A molecule that mediates the attachment of a cell to another cell or to the extracellular matrix. These factors are typically proteins, such as integrins, cadherins, and selectins, located on the cell surface. Cell adhesion is a fundamental process in tissue formation, immune response, and embryonic development, and its disruption can lead to developmental abnormalities or disease.
