Adhesion molecule
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000246
A cell surface protein that mediates the binding of cells to other cells or to the extracellular matrix. These molecules are involved in cell recognition, tissue development, immune responses, and inflammation. Examples include selectins, integrins, and cadherins, which are classified into different superfamilies based on their structure.
