Selectin
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010669
A family of cell adhesion molecules that mediate the initial rolling interactions of leukocytes on endothelial cells during inflammation. These transmembrane glycoproteins recognize specific carbohydrate ligands on opposing cells. There are three main types: L-selectin, P-selectin, and E-selectin, each with distinct expression patterns and functions.
