Immunological synapse

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005687

The specialized interface formed at the point of contact between a lymphocyte, such as a T cell, and an antigen-presenting cell (APC). This highly organized structure involves the clustering of T-cell receptors, co-receptors, and adhesion molecules, facilitating stable cell-to-cell communication. The synapse structure is typically organized into a central supramolecular activation cluster (cSMAC) surrounded by a peripheral SMAC.
