Torque

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012121

The rotational equivalent of linear force, representing the tendency of a force to rotate an object about an axis or pivot. It is calculated as the product of the force's magnitude and the perpendicular distance from the axis of rotation to the line of action of the force. Torque is a vector quantity, measured in newton-meters (N m) in the SI system.
