Magnetic moment
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006907
A measure of the strength and orientation of a magnetic source, such as an electron, nucleus, or molecule, in a magnetic field. It determines the torque experienced by the entity in an external magnetic field. The SI unit for magnetic moment is joules per tesla (J/T).
