Magnetic moment
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003491
A measure of the strength and orientation of a magnetic source, such as a magnet or a current loop. It quantifies the torque experienced by the object when placed in an external magnetic field. The magnetic moment is a vector quantity, with its direction indicating the orientation of the magnetic dipole, and is typically measured in ampere-square meters (A·m²).
