Field magnet
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002250
A magnet, either permanent or electromagnet, that produces the magnetic field within an electric motor or generator. This field interacts with the armature windings to induce rotation or generate an electrical current. In many industrial applications, electromagnets are preferred as field magnets because their strength can be controlled by adjusting the current flowing through their coils.
