Winding
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006614
The coils of insulated wire arranged around a magnetic core in an electric motor, generator, or transformer. When an electric current passes through the winding, it creates a magnetic field that produces torque in a motor or induces a current in another winding in a transformer. The number of turns in the coil determines the voltage and current characteristics of the device.
