Coil
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001219
A passive electrical component formed by winding a conductor, such as wire, into a spiral or helical shape. This configuration creates an inductor, which stores energy in a magnetic field when current flows through it. Coils are fundamental components in transformers, relays, and solenoids, with their inductance measured in henries (H).
