Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006472
A cylindrical coil of wire situated within the magnetic field of a permanent magnet, forming the moving element in many electro-acoustic transducers. When an electrical signal passes through the coil, it generates a force that causes the coil and an attached diaphragm or cone to move, producing sound waves.
