Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005459
An electromagnetic device that converts electrical energy into linear mechanical motion. It consists of a coil of wire wound around a movable ferromagnetic core, or plunger. When current flows through the coil, a magnetic field is generated, pulling the plunger into the coil, which can then actuate a valve or switch.
