Coriolis force
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002586
An apparent force that acts on moving objects within a rotating frame of reference, perpendicular to both the axis of rotation and the object's velocity. In molecular spectroscopy, this force describes the interaction between the vibrational motion of atoms and the overall rotation of the molecule. It influences the fine structure of rotational-vibrational spectra.
