Recombination energy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010021
The energy associated with the reorganization of molecular geometry and electronic structure that occurs during a redox reaction. This energy is required to bring the reactants and products to their optimal configurations for electron transfer. In Marcus theory, it is a key parameter determining the rate of electron transfer reactions.
