Electrofluorescence

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003681

The emission of light from a material as a result of the application of an electric field, specifically through the process of fluorescence. This phenomenon occurs when charge carriers are injected into the material and recombine to form excitons, which then decay radiatively, emitting photons. It is a key mechanism in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).
