Hopping transport
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005392
A mechanism of charge carrier movement in disordered or amorphous materials, such as many organic semiconductors, where charge carriers jump between localized states. This process is thermally activated and involves overcoming energy barriers between adjacent sites. The charge carrier mobility in hopping transport is typically lower than in band transport.
