Free electrons
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004651
Electrons that are not associated with a particular atom or molecule and can move freely within a material or in a vacuum. In metals, these electrons form a 'sea' that accounts for their high electrical and thermal conductivity. They are responsible for the flow of electric current in conductors.
